What Heavy-Duty AGV Battery Covers
Lead-acid "can't handle it": voltage drops instantly, the AGV protection shuts down, and heavy climbing causes continuous overcurrent. One port heavy-duty AGV down affects an entire loading line, with losses measured in ¥10,000/hour. PLB heavy-duty AGV batteries use a 2C sustained / 3C peak platform at 80V for 3–50 tonne AGVs, with a BMS that logs peak events so the duty cycle can be verified instead of assumed.

Heavy Climbing Current Exceeds — Lead-Acid Overheats and Shuts Down
Port yards have slopes and mine tunnels have grades. Heavy AGV climbing means sustained high current, and lead-acid's high resistance causes severe heating. Temperature rise increases resistance, which produces more heat — a vicious cycle — and lead-acid frequently triggers over-temperature protection during heavy climbing. A 50-tonne full-load AGV stopped on a slope is both dangerous and costly.
No overheating during heavy climbing, so the AGV never stops on a slope. Ultra-low resistance (<5mΩ) means heat generation is only one fifth of lead-acid. BMS temperature monitoring prevents protection shutdown. Port test: 50-tonne full load, 200m of continuous climbing — battery temperature rose only 8 °C.
| Lead-acid | PLB lithium | |
|---|---|---|
| Heat generation | Baseline | 1/5 of lead-acid |
| Internal resistance | High, rises with heat | <5mΩ |
| Heavy climbing | Over-temperature shutdown | No shutdown |
| Measured rise (50t, 200m) | Protection triggered | +8 °C |
Heavy AGV High Startup Current — Lead-Acid Voltage Drops Instantly
The pain is specific: Heavy AGV High Startup Current — Lead-Acid Voltage Drops Instantly In daily operation, lead-acid or manually managed packs lose capacity between scheduled checks, maintenance teams cannot inspect every unit, and the failure surfaces only when the load is already at risk.
100% full-load startup success; voltage drop <5V. PLB's LiFePO₄ pack and BMS monitor cell voltage, temperature and SOC continuously, alert before a weak cell becomes a failure, and are sized to the application's load profile.
| Conventional / manual | PLB LiFePO₄ | |
|---|---|---|
| Monitoring | Periodic checks | Continuous BMS |
| Fault warning | At failure | Threshold alerts |
| Maintenance | Scheduled visits | Exception-based |
| Service life | 2–3 years | 6,000+ cycles |
Forklift bays are built around a lead-acid block — will it fit?
Counterbalance trucks are designed around a standard lead-acid block that doubles as counterweight. A lighter lithium pack changes the counterweight margin and the retaining hardware rarely matches a different casing.
PLB builds to the original envelope, including terminal position and the ballast interface, and documents the weight difference so the counterweight can be adjusted where the truck allows it. ODM tooling covers non-standard bays.
| Generic lithium | PLB | |
|---|---|---|
| Envelope | Own casing | Matched to the original block |
| Weight data | Not documented | Counterweight note supplied |

Frequently Asked Questions
The questions AGV and AMR integrators ask most about LiFePO₄ robot packs in the Forklift AGV scenario — 51.2–80V (system voltage) and 150–250A (continuous current), and what it takes to qualify.
What has to change on the robot before a LiFePO₄ pack goes into the Forklift AGV scenario?
Packs are built to the robot bay envelope, system voltage and connector, with CAN bus and RS485 as standard and an outline matched to common robot bays. For Forklift AGV builds the range starts at 51.2V 100Ah and 80V 200Ah, specified at 51.2–80V (system voltage).
Does output stay flat through a whole Forklift AGV shift?
LiFePO₄ accepts partial charging without a memory effect, so the robot tops up at every idle window instead of waiting for a full overnight cycle. Key figure: 150–250A (continuous current).
How is the pack sealed and thermally managed in Forklift AGV duty?
Charging is blocked below freezing to prevent lithium plating, and sealed housings keep dust and washdown water out of the pack.
Is a special charger needed in the Forklift AGV scenario?
Opportunity charging is supported and the BMS manages current at each idle window, so a dedicated charging room is not required.
What warranty and after-sales support apply in the Forklift AGV scenario?
Standard products carry a full warranty backed by lifetime technical support, with terms confirmed on the quotation; export packing is UN 38.3-certified with MSDS. Tell us the robot duty cycle, charge window and bay dimensions — our engineers size the pack and recommend the model within 24 hours.
